When dreams battle with reality

What would you call a daydream,
From which you wish you never wake up
To a reality that dawns with a scream
And unwelcome memories it will rake up!

When…

…darkness had colors that dreamers could see,
…you lived a life that you now live in your dream,
…my verses came alive and talked sense to thee,
…you sang. Not of losses, but of what one day will gleam.

Dreams …

…you suppress them inside your gut.
…when reality dawns, it’s the beginning of an end.
…a far cry from other beginnings but
…are crippled and killed, you just can’t defend.

Battle with…

…my scars of a lifetime that you wanted to see;
From the battles I raged against reality.
If winner-takes-it-all be the man’s decree
The winner who gave all is next to divinity.

Reality…

…so hollow that its echo will not fade,
…so frail that no shadow it will cast.
The deaf would hear the echoes waylaid
The blind would see the shadows go past.

When dreams battle with reality,
This verse too won’t make sense to thee.
